Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team continued their non-conference schedule with a 68-60 victory against Delaware at Conte Forum. The Eagles are now 2-0, while the Fightin' Blue Hens fall to 1-1.
Boston College will host North Carolina Central on Friday, Nov. 17 at Conte Forum (7 p.m.) in a non-conference game.
The Eagles were led by senior Kindyll Dorsey with 21 points and eight rebounds, senior center Kathrin Ress with 16 points and five rebounds, and freshman Ayla Brown who added 14 points. The Fightin' Blue Hens were led by Chrissy Fisher with 23 points and 13 rebounds while Courtney Irving had nine points.
Boston College fell behind quickly in the first half as the Eagles were down, 7-0 to start the game. Dorsey would get her team back in the game. She connected with Kathrin Ress underneath for two buckets, cutting the deficit to 9-4. Dorsey would then hit two three's and a jumper from the baseline to make it a one point game, 13-12 at 12:54 in the game.
Brown gave the Eagles their first lead at 14-13 at 12:12. The Eagles went up 19-14 on a 3-pointer from Laura Lokitis at 8:47. The lead swelled to 24-19 when Dorsey hit another three and Brown followed up with a lay-up.
At the half, Boston College led 31-25 and Dorsey had 14 points, hit four three-pointers and added five rebounds.
In the second half, the Eagles lead shot to 10 points at 9:53 when Sarah Marshall (nine assists) hit Ayla Brown on a fast-break lay-up. It was the biggest lead of the game for the Eagles. The Blue Hens cut the lead on four straight points, but a Brown layup and two foul shots by Elisabeth Egnell gave the Eagles a 55-47 lead at 7:22.
Boston College went up 64-52 on an old fashion 3-point play Kathrin Ress from a feed from Marshall with just under five minutes to play. At that point, the Eagles held off a late rush by Delaware to seal the win.
Game Notes:Kindyll Dorsey grabbed a career high in rebounds with eight boards ... Sarah Marshall fell one assist shy (nine assists) of tying her career high of 10 assists ... The Eagles did not get to the foul line in the first half, and were 10-for-17 from the line in the second half.
