Boston College senior offensive guard Josh Beekman has been named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Beekman receives the honor for the second time this season. The Amsterdam, N.Y., native played a key role in Saturday's 28-7 win over Duke at Alumni Stadium as the Eagles amassed 31 first downs and 501 net yards of offense. Two BC running backs - L.V. Whitworth (13 carries, 118 yards, 1 touchdown, long of 34, 9.1 yards per carry) and Andre Callender (15 carries, 105 yards, 1 touchdown, long of 26, 7.0 yards per carry) - rushed for more than 100 yards and a third, A.J. Brooks, rushed for 44 yards on eight carries. BC quarterback Matt Ryan completed 23-of-37 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
Beekman, a tri-captain of the 2006 squad, has started 36 straight games for the Eagles.
