Chestnut Hill, Mass. - After a five set marathon Friday night, the Eagles were back in action against Duke University, but dropped a 3-0 decision to the Blue Devils this afternoon at Power gym.
In game one, the Eagles got out to early leads of 5-2 and 9-4. But, the Blue Devils would rally to tie the score at 16-16, after a service ace by freshman Rachael Moss. BC would counter, winning four of the next five points to hold a 20-17 edge. Duke would rally to tie the score at 22 after an attacking error on the Eagles, and were able to close out the game on an 8-4 run, winning 30-26.
In game two, the Eagles quickly fell behind 10-4 but would rally to cut the deficit to three, 13-10, after an attacking error on the Blue Devils. Unfortunately, this would be as close as the Eagles would get as Duke would gradually pull away for the 30-19 victory.
In game three, Duke would get out to an early 10-1 lead and never look back as they would cruise to a 30-11 victory. The Eagles could not get it going as the Blue Devils benefited from strong serving and timely blocking to hurt BC.
Duke was led on offense by junior Carrie DeMange who tallied 15 kills. Junior Kelsey Johnson led the Eagles with 10 kills and 12 digs.
The Eagles take to the road next weekend where they will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Friday, November 17 and the Tigers of Clemson, Saturday, November 18.
