The Boston College women's rowing team will compete in the 42nd annual Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend, October 21-22, on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
The team finished in fifth place in the program's first-ever ACC Championships exactly seven months ago this weekend. Highlights from that race include a second-place finish for the Eagles' novice eight boat. Six of the eight rowers on the Eagles' varsity eight boat at last year's ACC Championships have returned to the roster this year.
Individual accolades from last season include an All-ACC nod for senior Bridget Regan. Regan, a Milton, Mass. resident, is in her fourth year on the squad.
Four rowers earned National Scholar-Athlete Award recognition for the 2006 season from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) - seniors Claire Arpin, Emily Burke, Trisha Mack, and Regan.
The novice squad is a sizable one this fall, boasting 37 rowers that will serve as a foundation for the program and look to maintain the success of the Eagles' second-place novice eight boat from last year's ACC Championships.
The Eagles' start times for this weekend's race are as follows:
SATURDAY, Oct. 21 - Club Four event, 11:43am start time, bow #17
SATURDAY, Oct. 21 - Club Eight event, 12:28pm start time, bow #15
SUNDAY, Oct. 22 - Championship Four event, 3:23pm start time, bow #12
SUNDAY, Oct. 22 - Championship Eight event, 4:26pm start time, bow number 26
