Boston College junior forward Brian Boyle has earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors, according to an announcement made by the conference on Monday.
Boyle scored all four BC goals - including the gamewinner with less than one minute to play in overtime - to lead BC to a 4-3 win at UMass-Lowell on Saturday, Jan. 28. His four-goal effort marked the first time a BC player has tallied four goals in one game since Brian Gionta netted five goals against Maine on Jan. 27, 2001.
The Hingham, Mass., resident has tallied 11 points - seven goals and four assists - in BC's last five games.
Boyle has played in all 24 games and ranks second on the team in goals (11), assists (16) and points (27).
BC (17-5-2, 15-3-1 Hockey East) is in first place in the conference. The Eagles are back in action on Friday, Feb. 3 at Massachusetts. The game, which is set for 7 p.m., will be broadcast by NESN.
