Volleyball Tops Siena 3-0

Durham, N.H. - The Eagles looked sharp as they opened up tournament play at the University of New Hampshire with a 3-0 win over Siena College. Offensively junior outside hitter Dorota Niemczewska led the team with kills tallying 13 for the match. Niemczewska also had two aces, four digs defensively and a team high four blocks. Co-captain Allison Anderson led the team with 13 digs and seven served aces.
The Saints kept it close in the beginning of the first game but after the Eagles would go on a six point run to make it 11-4. The Saints made it close by taking the next three points but the Eagles would take control of the lead and never relinquished it. At one point Siena got it as close as 23-22 but the Eagles would dominate the next seven points and take the game 30-23.
In the second game the Saints struck early and won the first point of the game but after that the Eagles took the lead and didn't trail again for the rest of the match winning the second game 30-21. In the final game of the match, BC went on an eight point run to go up 26-12. After giving up two points the Eagles wrapped up the match to win it 30-14.
Senior co-captain Verena Rost had another strong all-around performance. Rost had 36 assists on the nights along with five digs, three kills, two blocks and served up two aces. Also contributing offensively was sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Johnson putting down 11 kills for a team high .304 hitting percentage. Junior middle blocker Morgan Woodcock also contributed eight kills and three blocks for the team's cause. The Eagles had a .276 attack percentage compared to the Saints .069 percentage.
The Eagles look to continue their winning ways in the Ocean National Bank Invitational as they take on Florida Atlantic University and host New Hampshire in the tournament's final day on Sept. 17. The Eagles will open up ACC play on Sept. 20 against Maryland in College Park, Md.
