Volleyball Falls to Undefeated Florida Atlantic University

Durham, N.H. - The Eagles lost a tough five game marathon to Florida Atlantic University who remains unbeaten this season (11-0). Although the Eagles had many outstanding performances throughout the entire match, the Owls stingy defense proved to be the difference in the end.
Despite the Eagles out hitting the Owls with a .188 hitting percentage, FAU remained consistent in all other areas outlasted BC in the end defeating the Eagles (30-27, 27-30, 30-23, 20-30, 13-15).
Senior setter and co-captain Verena Rost led the team in assists again with a season high 61 for the match. Rost also contributed four kills and 14 digs. The heavy hitters for the Eagles in the match were sophomore Kelsey Johnson and junior Morgan Woodcock putting down 18 and 17 kills respectively. Johnson led the team in hitting percentage for the second match in a row (.324). Freshman Tori Thompson had a strong showing digging 16 balls and totaling 13 kills. Co-captain Allison Anderson was strong at the libero position with 25 digs on the day and serving up two aces.
The Eagles took the first game of the match 30-27, but the Owls answered right back taking the second game with a score of 30-27. With 17 lead changes and 41 tie scores throughout the match, every game went back and forth with the Eagles taking the third game but the undefeated Owls would eventually overpower BC and take the fourth and fifth games of the match with scores of 30-20 and 15-13.
BC now 1-1 in the Ocean Bank Invitational and 4-4 overall will take on host New Hampshire at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17.
