Craig Smith, Team USA Win Gold Medal

Boston College senior forward Craig Smith is coming home with a gold medal. Smith and his Team USA teammates downed Ukraine, 85-70, in the World University Games' gold-medal game on Sunday, August 21.
In winning the World University Games gold medal for the 13th time, Team USA finished the competition with a perfect 8-0 mark. Team USA last won a gold medal in the WUG in 1999. The team captured the bronze medal in 2001 and did not send a team to the 2003 Games.
Smith averaged 13.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocked shots per game in seven contests. He missed one game because of injury. The senior forward shot a team-high 66.7 percent from the field (40-for-60). He shot 68.0 percent from the foul line (17-for-25).
Smith led the team (or tied for the team lead) in scoring in three of seven games. He led the team in rebounding once.
