In addition, here's an update from what a number of former Eagle ballplayers are doing in the minor leagues:
Former ace Chris Lambert joined the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals, AA) on June 1 after posting a 7-1 record in 10 starts with the Palm Beach Cardinals (A). The right-hander boasted a 2.63 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched for Palm Beach. Since his promotion to Springfield, Lambert is 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA in 40.2 IP, which spanned eight starts. Most recently, Lambert completed a scoreless two-thirds of one inning in the Major League Baseball Futures Game on Sunday, July 10, at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Left-handed pitcher Mike Wlodarczyk (2002-05) owns a 2.57 ERA in 21 innings pitched this summer for the Princeton Devil Rays (Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Rookie). In his five starts, he has struck out 23 batters while issuing just three walks and one home run...right-handed hurler Joe Martinez (2002-05) is 1-2 with a 3.42 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 23.2 innings for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (San Francisco Giants, A)... southpaw Kevin Shepard (2002-04) has a 6.28 ERA and 13 strikeouts in eight games for the Batavia Muckdogs (Philadelphia Phillies, A)...right-handed pitcher Steve Langone (1997-2000) owns a 4.25 ERA with 22 strikeouts and three walks in 29.2 innings for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Boston Red Sox, A).
Shortstop Ryan Leahy (2001-04) hit .231 with the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Class-AA) in 43 games before changing teams. He now plays for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes...outfielder Drew Locke (2002-05) is hitting .231 with two home runs and five runs scored in 10 games for the Ogden Raptors (Los Angeles Dodgers, Rookie)...outfielder Jason Delaney (2002-05) is batting .196 with seven RBI and 11 runs scored in 26 games for the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates, A)...infielder Marco Albano (2002-05) is hitting .238 and boasts a .429 on-base percentage in 10 games for the Orem Owlz (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Rookie)...outfielder Brian Macchi (1999-2002) has collected a .329 batting average, 20 runs scored and 17 RBI for the North Shore Spirit of the Canadian American Independent League.
