Men's Golf Earns NCAA Tournament Bid

The men's golf squad earned a spot in the east regionals of the 2005 NCAA Division I Tournament according to an announcement made by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee on Monday. This will be BC's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1995.
The 54-hole regional championship will be played from May 19-21 at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn. The tournament will be hosted by the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The top-10 teams from the field of 27 in each regional will move on to play in the NCAA Championships from June 1-4 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Loyola College (Md.) is the host institution for this year's championships.
The fine mixture of youth and experience boosted the men's golf team to find success in the fall and spring seasons of 2004-05. The Eagles posted their best finish of the fall season at the NEIGA tournament. BC came in ninth of 46 participating New England teams. Junior captain Kyle Kelly was BC's best performer in three of the five fall invitationals.
When the spring season rolled around, the Eagles welcomed the strong play of freshman Alex Snickenberger. In the William and Mary Invitational, the first year shot even par, winning the tournament. The best team finish came at the Yale Spring Open when the Eagles won the tournament. Kelly led the way and with key contributions from freshmen Bob Reed and Jim Granello.
The Eagles will have an opportunity to showcase the strides they have made as a team over the past season on the national stage.
