South Orange, N.J. - The Boston College softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Seton Hall Saturday afternoon at Ivy Hill Park. The Eagles were no-hit in a 4-0 loss and then dropped a heartbreaker in the twin bill, 3-2 in 10 innings. With the losses, the Eagles are 12-14 on the season and 2-2 in the BIG EAST.
In the first game, there was not much of note as the Eagles were no-hit and shutout by Megan Meyer. Boston College allowed four runs on five hits as Michelle Daly (Concord, Mass.) took the loss on the mound.
In the nightcap, the Eagles battled back and forth with the Pirates, scoring their first run to take a 1-0 lead after three innings. With two outs, Kimmy Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.) belted an RBI double for the game's first score. Seton Hall would take that one run back in the fifth inning on two hits and a BC error.
The Eagles broke the 1-1 tie with another single run in the sixth. Hopkin belted another double and scored on an Ashley Obrest (Elmwood Park, Ill.) double. Seton Hall would once again tie it, this time with one run on two hits. The game would remain notched at two until the 10th inning walk-off homerun by the Pirates.
Hopkin and Kristin Allain (Worcester, Mass.) both went 2-for-4 in the second game while Obrest added a hit and RBI. Daly took the loss on the mound and dropped to 6-8 on the season.
Boston College will next play at St. John's Sunday afternoon.
