Lacrosse Falls To Boston University

Boston, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team fell to cross-town rival No. 11 Boston University, 15-7, tonight at Nickerson Field. Lizette Blohm and Susie Breaznell led the Eagles with three goals each.
In the first half, BU (6-1) got on the board first at 28:18. The Terriers scored six unanswered goals over the first 19 minutes of play.
BC (5-2) made a run at 6:32 when Blohm and Breaznell scored back-to-back goals. Blohm connected off a pass from Katherine Wagoner and Brennan Joyce dished the ball to Breaznell to narrow the gap to 6-2.
With 1:18 remaining in the first half, Breaznell netted her second goal of the game. The senior added a third goal at the buzzer to end the first half.
The Eagles headed into halftime trailing 8-4. Goalie Tara McKennett stopped three shots on goal in the first 23:28 of the half, while Courtney Zwirko made two saves in the final 6:32 of the frame.
BC started the second half with a goal when Elizabeth Kadison converted a free position shot at 26:54 to make the score 8-5.
The Terriers tallied four straight goals to take a 12-5 advantage.
Blohm notched two free position goals in the second half for the Eagles, but it was not enough as BU scored seven second-half goals.
Jackie Yovankin dominated off the draws for the Eagles. The senior won a team-high three draw controls and picked up three groundballs on the night.
Zwirko made seven saves in the second half for BC, giving her nine stops on the night, while Anne Sheridan stopped 11 shots on goals for BU. The Terriers out-shot the Eagles 32-21.
BC will host the University of Massachusetts on Saturday, April 2. The action starts at 1 p.m. and will be played at the Newton Campus Field.
