In his longest outing of the season, senior Mike Wlodarczyk scattered five hits over 7.2 shutout innings to lead Boston College to a 5-1 win over Lafayette on Saturday. The southpaw struck out seven in his second victory of the year. He improves to 2-1.
The Eagles (6-5) broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning with three runs on two hits. With two outs, senior left fielder Jason Delaney singled to center field to knock in Dave Preziosi and Drew Locke. Delaney, who was 3-for-5 on the day and is in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak, scored the third run when Mike Flynn reached on an error by the Lafayette left fielder.
Preziosi scored another run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Locke. Jared Mcguire's double in the eighth scored Flynn to stretch BC's lead to 5-0.
Sophomore Kevin Boggan relieved Wlodarczyk in the eighth and went 1.1 innings. He allowed Lafayette's lone run in the bottom of the ninth.
