Softball Announces New Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College softball team received three national letters of intent from its 2006-07 class of recruits, as announced by head coach Jen Finley. The following is a list of players who will join the Boston College softball team as freshmen next season:
Taylor Peyton
Pitcher/First base
Rosary HS/Fullerton, Calif.
Peyton went 19-5 in the circle with a 0.58 ERA. She also hit .348 with 28 RBI as a junior. She was the Serra League Pitcher of the Year in 2005. She was also named to the first-team all-division, all-county, and all-league teams. She has helped her squad to three (2003, 2004, 2005) Serra League Championships. Played for the Orange County Lionettes 18U Gold travel team.
Amy Tunstall
Outfield/Utility
Esperanza HS/Anaheim, Calif.
Tunstall has been a starter since she was a freshman, seeing time in the outfield and infield. She was the team's Offensive MVP in 2005 as she led the team in hits and doubles. Her team has made the CIF Play-offs in each of her three seasons, reaching the quarterfinals in 2005. She is a two-time all-league selection. Played for the TeamSmith 18 Gold travel team.
Danielle Weir
First base/Catcher
Woodinville HS/Redmond, Wash.
Helped her team to a 27-0 record and the 2005 4A Washington State Championship. She was a two-time winner of the Woodinville High School Silver Bat award. Weir was named to the all-star team as designated by several newspaper and media organizations. In 2005, she hist .489 with four home runs and a league-leading 35 RBI. She hit .391 with 60 RBI and 11 home runs for the Absolute Blast U18 Gold travel team.
"This is one of the best recruiting classes we've ever had," says Finley. "We are excited to have them. Having them is certainly great for our program, especially as we transition into the ACC. Their presence will help our success."
