Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team posted a 67-53 win over Massachusetts rival Holy Cross Wednesday night at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-1 overall. The victory was BC's eighth in a row over the Crusaders (2-3) and the 14th in a row over Massachusetts schools.
For the second game in a row, Kindyll Dorsey (Manchester, N.H.) led all scorers with 16 points. Senior Brooke Queenan (West Chester, Pa.) posted her third double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
After 2:30 minutes of scoreless play, Boston College opened the game with a 7-0 run behind a pair of free throws by Kathrin Ress (Salorno, Italy), a lay-up by Brittanny Johnson (Chicago, Ill.), and a three-pointer by Dorsey. Though the Crusaders would fight back gallantly, another 7-0 Eagle run gave them their largest lead of nine points with just over three minutes remaining in the half.
Boston College opened the second half with fire, opening its lead to 13 points behind a pair of lay-ups by Ress. The Eagles were up by eight when Holy Cross' Laura Aloisi stole the ball and missed a lay-up and the chance to cut the BC lead to six with just under 10 minutes to play. The turn of events allowed BC to rally off a 12-0 run - with four points each from Aja Parham (San Antonio, Texas) and Johnson - to go up by 20. The Crusaders fought back once more, but this time could get no closer than the final margin of 14.
Kaitlin Foley and Brittany Keil led Holy Cross with 14 points. In addition to Dorsey and Queenan, Parham and Ress also scored in double digits, each totaling a dozen points on the night.
Boston College will play seven of its next eight games at home, next hosting No. 4 Ohio State Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The eighth-ranked Eagle men will host Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. that night.
