Kiwanuka Tabbed A Semifinalist For Bednarik Award

Boston College senior defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka has been tabbed a semifinalist for the 11th Chuck Bednarik Award for the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Wednesday.

Kiwanuka, the Atlantic Coast Conference's Preseason Player of the Year, is Boston College's career sack leader and has played in 44 career games while registering 223 tackles, including 50 ½ tackles for a loss.

The announcement of the winner of the Bednarik Award will be made during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN on Thursday December 8, 2005. Three finalists for each award will be in attendance for the ESPN broadcast.

Voting for the Bednarik Award presented by the Maxwell Football Club will begin on Monday November 7th and close on Friday November 25th.
