Coral Gables, Fla. - The Eagles dropped a tough conference match to the University of Miami, 3-0 on Sunday. The Eagles fell to the Hurricanes, 30-25, 30-26 and 30-28. BC now stands at 6-17 overall and 1-13 in ACC play.
Freshman Tori Thompson had a strong match leading the Eagles in kills with 10. Thompson also had season-best attack percentage, totaling .320. Thompson added two served aces, five digs and two blocks. Juniors Morgan Woodcock and Dorota Niemczewska both tallied nine kills while Niemczewska had a team-high, .420 attack percentage.
Senior co-captain Verena Rost had a team-high 23 assists while also putting down three kills, two blocks and seven digs. Freshman Brittany Pierpont was second in assists putting up 14 for the match while also adding seven digs, four kills and one block. Pierpont also had a team-high three served aces.
Also having a strong match was junior Alison Shepp. Shepp had three blocks for the match, four digs, one served ace, eight kills and a .368 attack percentage.
The Eagles look to battle back in ACC play when they take on Virginia and Virginia Tech at home on Nov. 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
