Buffalo, N.Y. - The Eagles tied No. 10 Princeton in Buffalo, N.Y as sophomore Sarah Feldman and freshman Becky Zavisza both scored on power play goals in the second and third periods. The Eagles are now 2-0-2 overall and take on Niagara on Sunday.
"It's a great tie," head coach Tom Mutch said. "I think the team played very well in the second and third periods. Our goalie, Johanna Ellison, played great. We played consistently and stayed with a very good Princeton team. We had very solid goals coming off the power play."
The first period remained scoreless for both teams. Princeton would eventually strike in the first two minutes of the second period as Annie Greenwood scored on an assist from Kim Pierce. Eight minutes later Feldman scored on an assist from Deborah Spillane for Feldman's second goal of the season and Spillane's ninth overall point of the season.
Princeton's Alison Ralph scored an unassisted goal with just under three minutes left in the second period as Princeton took the lead, 2-1.
Neither team would score until two minutes left on the clock in the third period when freshman Becky Zavisza scored her fourth goal of the season on the power play from freshman Maggie Taverna. This was the Eagle's second power play goal of the night.
Freshman, Johanna Ellison had 40 saves throughout the four periods, including five in overtime.
