Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer team fought back from an early 1-0 deficit to earn a 1-1 tie in two overtime sessions against #14 Wake Forest at Newton Campus Soccer Field.
The Demon Deacons attacked the Eagles right out of the gate, getting on the board at 16:33 as BC was a man down due to an equipment change. Justin Moose made a run to the corner and fed a cross to Mark Ellington who powered it home for the early lead.
Boston College picked up the intensity following the Wake Forest goal and finally broke through in the 60th minute. Freshman Reuben Ayarna sent a perfect volley to Sherron Manswell who collected it brilliantly and fired a low blast into the lower corner. It was Manswell's ninth goal of the season and Ayarna's second assist in two games.
The ACC league-leader in saves, Issey Maholo stopped six shots on the day for the Eagles. Sam Brill returned from injury and played well at defender.
The Eagles had 10 shots on the day, including two strong chances in overtime from Hadrien Toure and Ayarna that were turned away.
Boston College returns to action Saturday at home against #12 Maryland at 7 p.m. at Newton Campus Field.
