Men's Basketball Names Team Captains

Senior Nate Doornekamp and juniors Louis Hinnant and Craig Smith have been named captains of the 2004-05 Boston College basketball team, according to an announcement made by head coach Al Skinner.
Doornekamp, a 7-foot center, averaged 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 34 games last winter. He has played in 97 games in a BC uniform, making 63 starts.
Hinnant averaged 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and a team-high 3.3 assists per game in 31 games last season. He made 30 starts. Through two seasons with the Eagles, the Oxon Hill, Md., resident has tallied 307 points and 200 assists in 62 contests.
Smith gained All-Big East first-team honors last winter after averaging 16.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He played in and started all 34 games. Smith captured All-Tournament honors as the 2004 Big East Championship after notching a double-double in each of the Eagles' three tournament games. Smith enters his junior campaign with 1,193 career points.
Boston College, which finished last season with a 24-10 mark and gained a berth in the NCAA Tournament, opens the 2004-05 season with an exhibition game against Carleton (Ottawa, Ontario) University on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The Eagles will host Maine in the regular-season opener on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
