Men's golf finished their third tournament of the 2004 fall season in Farmingdale, NY at the McLaughlin. Bethpage Red at Bethpage is a par 70 course and the two-day event saw the men's squad finish third of the nine competing teams.
BC was consistent this weekend, as the squad held onto third place after the first round and continued to take third overall after Sunday's rounds.
Overall, the University of Maryland won the tournament. The Terps led by eight strokes at the end of the first day of competition and the shuffling of rankings from the second to fifth place teams on day two allowed Maryland to run away with the title.
The top finisher for BC was Kyle Kelly. After the first day of play, Kelly held the #2 position. In his first two rounds on Saturday, he shot a three-over 73 and a one-over 71. On Sunday, Kelly slipped a bit, but still finished the tournament in 8th place overall.
Other top finishers for BC were Alex Snickenberger, tied for ninth, and Phil Holden, tied for 14th. Snickenberger shot a four-over, three-over then a two-over in his last round to finish out at 219 in overall strokes.
Holden began the tournament with a one-under 69. John Eades from Maryland was the only player to beat or tie that score (67) in the opening round. Holden finished shooting a seven-over and a four-over to land him in 14th place overall.
The Eagles hit the course on October 4-5 for the College of William and Mary Invitational in West Point, NY.
