Women's Golf Opens Season In NH

Women's golf got their 2004 season underway this weekend in Hanover, New Hampshire at the Dartmouth Women's Invitational. With a team total of 679 strokes, the team finished in eighth place overall. The women have four remaining tournaments in 2004 and then prepare for their six-tournament spring season.
BC's top finisher was Courtney Tincher. In her two rounds, she shot an 83 twice. The pair of plus-11 rounds put her at plus-22 for the tournament and brought her stroke total to 166. This individual score landed Tincher tied for 23rd.
Finishing one stroke behind Tincher was Lara Smilnak. She shot a plus-11 on her first round, but completed her second round one stroke higher. This left her total at 167 and placed her 28th on the final board.
Another notable performance came from Tiffany Wernig. Wernig notched an 85 on both rounds, landing her in 40th position at the conclusion of the tournament.
On the overall scoring list, Tincher is noted as averaging 3.2 strokes on par three holes. She tied for second of all players in this category. Tincher also completed 18 pars on the weekend.
BC's Katie Napleton tied for third place in birdies with four.
The Eagles' next competition is during the October 1st weekend at the University of Kentucky Wildcat Invitational. This Friday to Sunday, 54-hole tournament will take place at the Big Blue Course in Lexington, KY.
