Rowing Competes in EAWRC Sprints Championship

Camden, N.J. - The Boston College women's rowing team finished 14th in a field of 18 in the 2004 Eastern Women's Sprints Championship on Sunday, May 9. Both Boston College and Georgetown accrued 18 points in the competition, while Brown finished first with 67 total points.
In the Varsity Eight competition, Boston College placed second in the Third Level Final, less than eight seconds behind Pennsylvania. The Eagles finished at 6:48.75, ahead of BIG EAST foes Rutgers (6:55.14) and Georgetown (7:09.63).
Boston College finished ahead of George Washington by less than four seconds in the Third Level Final of the second Varsity Eight. The Eagles cruised to a first place finish in the Third Level Final of the third Varsity Four "A." The rowing squad finished at 8:08.80, ahead of Navy (8:15.85), Georgetown (8:22.24), and M.I.T. (8:31.60).
The Eagles grabbed a first-place finish in the Petite Final of the third Varsity Four "B" with a time of 8:13.90, ahead of BIG EAST competitors Syracuse (8:15.48) and Rutgers (8:20.71). Boston College placed sixth out of seven teams in the Petite Final of the first Novice Eight competition. In the Petite Final of the second Novice Eight, Boston College grabbed a second-place finish with a time of 7:22.33, behind George Washington (7:19.90).
The Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges (EAWRC) extended Boston College an invitation to race as a guest entry in the 2004 EAWRC Sprints Championship, based on the performances of the women's crews during regular season racing and at the Knecht Cup Regatta on Sunday, April 18.
The Eastern Sprints are the championship of the EAWRC.
