Providence, R.I. - Boston College freshman Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week on April 12. It is the first time this season that an Eagle has been so honored by the conference office.
Macchi hit .500 in a 4-0 week for the Eagles, collecting seven hits, six RBI, and two home runs. In a doubleheader sweep of conference foe Connecticut, Macchi was 3-for-7 at the plate with four RBI, a double, a home run, and a stolen base. The Eagle second baseman went 4-for-7 with four runs scored, two RBI, a double, and a home run in her team's sweep of Holy Cross earlier in the week. Over those four games, Macchi was stellar on defense as well, collecting 14 putouts and 13 assists without committing an error.
The Eagles are currently 24-15 overall and 4-4 in the BIG EAST, standing in a tie for fourth place. This week, the Eagles will travel to Massachusetts for a single game Thursday against the Minutewomen. They will remain on the road for conference doubleheaders at Villanova (Saturday) and Rutgers (Sunday). BC will return home April 24-25 when it hosts Seton Hall (Saturday) and St. John's (Sunday).
