Bulman Receives Scanlan Award; Peterson Voted Team MVP

Senior defensive tackle Tim Bulman received the Scanlan Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a Boston College football player, at the team's annual awards luncheon Sunday. The Scanlan Award is given to a senior football player who best exemplifies the ideals of schoar, athlete, gentleman and friend.
The other awards announced at the banquet were:
William J. Flynn Award to team's most valuable player, as voted by his teammates: Paul Peterson.
Gridiron Club Award, given to student-athlete who always displays the determination, enthusiasm and spirit expected from a BC football player both on and off the field: Joel Hazard.
Unsung Hero Award, for unheralded achievement and outstanding performance recognized by teammates and coaches; infrequently the "Big-Play" person but always the steady performer; making plays with fundamental football skills and a person whose leadership is found in his steady play day in and day out: Phil Mettling.
Coaches' Award, given to the player who exemplifies the coaching staff's attitude toward the game; a performer whose style of play reflects what has been taught and sometimes what simply cannot be taught; this is a person with great football instincts: Peter Shean.
Paul Cavanagh Award, given to the player whose collective on and off the field accomplishments speak volumes about his commitment to balance, a level-headed and realistic outlook on life, and his wholesome perspective on volunteerism, ethics and the community; a football player whose accomplishments on the field distinguish him as an achiever and as a contributor in many ways: Grant Adams.
The Jay McGillis Scholarship Award, given in recognition of a defensive back that best exemplifies the personal qualities of team dedication and leadership by example, an extraordinary competitive spirit, and personal concern for family, friends, and teammates: T.J. Stancil.
The Special Teams Award, recognizing outstanding play on the special teams; in football terms, sometimes known as the Big-Play guy, the kamikaze man; often times known as the heart of the team; this player has great football instincts, speed, and a nose for the ball; he possesses the capability of turning a game around: Will Blackmon.
The Scout Team Award, recognizing the player who day in and day out walks onto the field to play the game; this player makes the most out of his God-given abilities; he has a healthy attitude and is a leader in a way that only a football person could understand: Robert Francois and Brandon Robinson.
