For the second week in a row, two Eagles have received Big East Player of the Week honors.
Running back L.V. Whitworth was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week, while his teammate, linebacker Ray Henderson, was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.
Whitworth helped lead BC to a 34-17 victory over Temple on Saturday, rushing 17 times for a career-high 151 yards and two touchdowns. The redshirt freshman also caught two passes for two yards. Whitworth's touchdowns came on runs of 29 yards (in the first quarter) and 39 yards (in the fourth quarter). He accounted for the Eagles' first and last touchdowns of the game. This is Whitworth's first career Offensive Player of the Week award.
Henderson earns Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season. The junior was also named Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season on Sept. 13. Henderson registered a game-high 15 tackles against the Owls on Saturday, including five solo stops. He also posted 2.5 tackles for a loss and one interception, which he returned 20 yards.
Connecticut punter Shane Hussar was chosen as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Last week, BC defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka earned Defensive Player of the Week honors while teammate Will Blackmon was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
