Boston College quarterback Paul Peterson was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week after rallying the Eagles to a 24-23 win at Notre Dame.
Peterson, a 6-0, 184-pound senior, threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tony Gonzalez with 54 seconds left to give the Eagles their fourth straight victory and fifth win in six tries over Notre Dame. He helped BC recover from a 20-7 halftime deficit by completing 19-of-23 passes for 297 yards in the second half, including two touchdown throws. For the game, he was 27-of-41 for a career-high 383 yards.
Josh Lay of Pittsburgh and Adam "Pac-Man" Jones of West Virginia shared Defensive Player of the Week honors and Pittsburgh placekicker Josh Cummings was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Peterson is the first Eagle to receive an outright Player of the Week honor this season. He was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week after he threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns in BC's 27-7 win over Connecticut. Linebacker Ray Henderson, who had a career-high two interceptions in the Eagles' 21-7 victory over Penn State, was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week after that game.
