Freshman Katie Napleton was BC women's golf's highest finisher on the leaderboard and the team finished with a +83 on the afternoon. This was good enough for the 16th slot finish at Bradford Creek, a par 72, 6,093-yard course, in Greenville, North Carolina.
The two day invitational saw Augusta State take the title. The team shot an aggregate +5 on three rounds. Augusta State finished seven strokes above second-place Coastal Carolina and 14 strokes above third-place East Carolina University.
Napleton shot a 79 on round one, then an 82 on the second. She came back strong in the final round of the tournament by shooting a +3, 75. Her total of 236 strokes landed her tied for 57th among women's players for the tournament.
Moira O'Connell and Elizabeth Friel tied for 59th place with an overall 237 on the tournament. The pair finished a stroke behind Napleton and the best round between the two players was O'Connell's first round +3, 75.
BC's finishers are rounded out by Tiffany Wernig and Liz Callery. Wernig shot two rounds over 80, then came back in the last round to shoot a 77; totaling her tournament stroke tally at 243. Callery shot two rounds of 84 and one at 78 to land her in 76th place with a composite 246.
Women's golf will hit the course this Saturday in the Yale University Intercollegiate in New Haven, Connecticut.
