Volleyball Sweeps Dartmouth

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Eagles (9-3) worked another shutout win this season against Dartmouth (3-1) Tuesday night in Power Gym.
Boston College came out tough, opening the first game at full strength. Dorota Niemczeska took control on offense, recording four kills Verena Rost hit .667 on the court. Katie Andersen managed to make eight digs on defense, warding off a few of the 13 attempts made by Dartmouth's Sarah Nadler.
The second game was more of a challenge for the Eagles. Combined, BC made eight service errors but continued to push on offense, going at it with 51 attacks, 20 of them kills. Big Green made two team blocks on the Eagles, and was able to dig out 13 shots. BC continued to put on pressure and the second game went to the Eagles, 30-23.
BC dominated the third game and made eight service aces. The Eagles made three team blocks and kept Big Green to only seven kills. Boston College capitalized on Dartmouth's four service errors and three block errors for extra points.
Verena Rost had 41 assists overall, a key element to the win. Alison Shepp made 10 kills and hit .444, second behind Niemczeska at 12 kills hitting .524.
The Eagles will get a week off competition, and will meet up with Harvard, Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in Cambridge.
