Volleyball Downs Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Volleyball mounted another win on Wednesday night across the Charles River. Boston College (10-3) defeated Harvard (1-6) 3-1.
The first game was close, the Eagles only up by two points to win game one 30-28. Harvard stepped up in game two and knocked down BC 30-28. When game three came around, BC was ready and took the court by storm. The Eagles took over the third game, keeping a comfortable lead and coming out on top, 30-22. By game four the Eagles got set to finish up the match, and shut down Harvard 30-27.
Allison Anderson had another strong night for the Eagles. The freshman made 17 kills to lead the team on offense, and backed it up on defense with 15 digs. Verena Rost made three service aces from the back of the court. Rost is a BIG EAST leader for aces when serving the ball.
Sophomore captain Emily Stegner played two strong offensive games. Stegner hit .400 against Harvard with three kills. Dorota Niemczewska played a major role in all four games, making nine kills, three service aces and 12 digs.
This weekend BC will see there first conference matches as West Virginia and Pittsburgh roll into town. The Eagles will host the Mountaineers Saturday at 11 a.m. in Power Gym.
