CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer program has been tabbed preseason No. 13 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division I National Rankings, announced by the Association on Monday afternoon.
Finishing at 18-5-0, the Eagles completed its most successful season in program history, winning its second BIG EAST regular-season title and third conference championship and reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time. Six Eagles earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST squad and the team took home BIG EAST Coaching Staff and Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
Boston College has four ranked opponents in the 2003 poll. The Eagles travel to University Park, Pa., September 12 to play No. 16 Penn State. Ten days later Boston College visits BIG EAST foe UConn (No. 10) before hosting another conference opponent, Syracuse (No. 22), September 28. The Eagles play at No. 5 St. John's October 24. In addition to the four ranked rivals, the Eagles will face seven other BIG EAST rivals.
The Eagles season kicks off Saturday, August 30 at Pittsburgh. Game time is 1:00.
