With temperatures on the Alumni Stadium turf nearing 100 degrees, the Boston College football team completed its final preseason intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon.
"It was a little heated out there today, but that was good," Head Coach Tom O'Brien said. "It's good to have a scrimmage like that and get through it. I think the team is happy to get preseason over with and they're looking forward to playing a football game."
With O'Brien still undecided on a starter at quarterback, juniors Quinton Porter and Paul Peterson each had opportunities to play with the first-team offense. Porter completed 13 of 19 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown throw to fullback Greg Toal, while Peterson completed 12 of 20 passes for 79 yards.
"I think they both performed well," O'Brien said. "As I said before, it's a good problem to have. You've got two kids you can rely on who I believe can win. We just need to figure out which way we want to go with the offense and what's the best thing to help this team win."
Derrick Knight led all rushers with 15 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown. Horace Dodd carried the ball nine times for 47 yards.
Freshman Kevin Challenger caught two passes for 72 yards while Joel Hazard had three grabs for 66 yards and Grant Adams had four catches for 43 yards.
The Eagles will take Thursday off from practice and return with a light workout on Friday. They begin game-week preparations on Sunday.
