CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Having won six of its last seven games, the baseball team looks to keep things rolling this week when it hosts intrastate rival UMass-Amherst in a doubleheader and BIG EAST foe Pittsburgh in a three-game series.
The Eagles (24-17, 7-8 BE) will face the Minutemen (15-15) on Thursday, May 1 in a pair of seven-inning games beginning at 2 p.m. The last time these two teams met was April 16, 2002, in the first round of the Beanpot at Fenway Park, with BC capturing a 7-5 win.
After a day off Friday, Boston College and Pittsburgh (31-13, 10-7) tangle in a single game at 4 p.m. Saturday, then come back the next day for a doubleheader starting at noon. Last year the Eagles went to Pittsburgh and swept the Panthers in a twinbill, winning 5-3 and 17-8.
Pittsburgh is tied with Virginia Tech for fourth place in the BIG EAST standings, while the Eagles occupy the seventh spot. (BIG EAST Standings)

NOTES
'SCIP STILL STREAKING
The hot bat of junior second baseman Josh DiScipio (Schenectady, N.Y.) continued last week as he hit in all seven of the Eagles' games, bringing his hitting streak to 18 games. The streak started April 3, in the second game of a doubleheader against Villanova. At the time he was hitting .241, but since then he has gone 31-for-72 (.431) to raise his average to .329, third best on the team. He has also scored a team-high 17 runs in that span.
BEANPOT CHAMPS!
Boston College clinched its sixth Beanpot crown last Thursday with an 8-6 win over Harvard at Fenway Park. That is the most championships of any team in the tournament, which has been held each of the last 14 years. The title-clinching victory marked the third time the Eagles defeated the Crimson for the championship. The other two occasions were in 1990 and 1993.
Senior shortstop Ryan Leahy, who went 4-for-8 with a home run, six runs batted in and four runs scored in the two games, was named most valuable player.
BIG EAST HONOREES
Two Eagles earned weekly conference honors last week as sophomore left fielder Jason Delaney was named BIG EAST co-Player of the Week and sophomore Chris Lambert garnered BIG EAST co-Pitcher of the Week accolades. Delaney hit .636 (14-for-22) with two home runs, seven RBIs and nine runs scored, and also hit for the cycle in BC's 8-1 win over Seton Hall on Sunday. In that game, Lambert no-hit the Pirates for 5.2 innings and finished with a complete-game three-hitter. The only run he gave up was unearned. Lambert walked three and struck out seven to increase his BIG EAST-leading strikeout total to 68.
