Softball Drops 2-0 Decision At Massachusetts

Amherst, Mass. - The Boston College softball team dropped a 2-0 decision to Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up at UM Softball Complex. The Eagles fall to 20-14 overall (7-1 BIG EAST). With the loss, BC's six-game win streak came to and end.
UMass got on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the first inning. The Minutewomen rallied with two outs, stringing together a single to left and an RBI double to right center. UMass scored an insurance run in the fourth inning with a solo homerun to right field.
BC collected four hits on the afternoon, one each coming from Cara Blumfield (West Hills, Calif.), Jacqui Goodchild (West Hills, Calif.), Erin Mackey (River Forest, Ill.), and Kimmy Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.). Michelle Daly (Concord, Mass.) took the loss on the mound, pitching three innings.
Boston College returns to BIG EAST action at home Saturday, April 19 when it hosts Connecticut at Shea Field in a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
