Rowing Shines At Jesuit Invitational

CAMDEN, N.J. - Boston College women's rowing kicked off its spring campaign with three first place finishes and one second place performance at the Jesuit Invitational Regatta held on Cooper River in New Jersey this past weekend.
The 1st Varsity 8 boat won their event rowing the course in 6:43.39, more than six seconds ahead of second place finishers, Fordham University who crossed the line at 6:49.93. The women's 2nd Varsity 8 also blew away their competition turning in a time of 7:16.09, over 10 seconds faster than second place Fordham. Second through fourth place were separated by only 3.01 seconds with Holy Cross and Saint Joseph's grabbing third and fourth, respectively.
The Varsity 4 also won their competition beating out Loyola in a close finish. Boston College and Loyola finished more than 20 seconds ahead of third place Fairfield. Saint Joseph's, Georgetown and Fairfield Light boats rounded out the finishes in the Varsity 4 event.
Bright spots for the Eagles were a second and third place finish turned in by the Freshmen 4 boat and the Novice 8. The Freshmen 4 boat beat Saint Joseph's, Fordham, and BIG EAST foe Georgetown. Loyola won the heat.
Boston College women's rowing is back in action this Saturday, March 29 on the Charles River in Boston competing against Harvard, Northeastern and Rutgers.
