Softball Drops Two On Second Day Of Easton Classic

Los Angeles, Calif. -- The Boston College softball team dropped a pair of contests on the second day of the Easton Classic at Easton Stadium on the campus of UCLA. The Eagles fell to top-ranked UCLA, 10-1, and to Missouri, 6-1. BC stands at 5-7 on the season.
In the first game of the day, Boston College got its lone run of the game on a third-inning solo home run from Cara Blumfield (West Hills, Calif.). Jacqui Goodchild (West Hills, Calif.), Lisa Fischer (Coopersburg, Pa.), and Kim Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.) collected the other Eagle hits. Kim Ryan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) took the loss on the mound and fell to 2-1 on the season.
In the second game, Boston College was upended by Missouri, 6-1, a day after topping the Tigers on the opening day of the tournament. In the second inning, BC pushed a run across the plate to take a 1-0 lead. Erin Mackey (River Forest, Ill.) belted an RBI double for the early lead. Missouri would tie the game in its half of the second and push across four more runs in the fifth to secure victory. Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif) took the loss on the mound, falling to 1-4 on the season.
Sunday, Boston College will face Missouri at 10:00 a.m. EST. The winner will face No. 1 UCLA for the tournament championship at 2:00 p.m. EST.
