CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Chris Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) received BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors Monday, March 10, the conference office announced. This is the first time in his career he has earned this distinction.
The 6-1, 205-pound righthander went 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in two starts last week for the Eagles, who posted a 6-2 record on the week. His strikeout-to-walk ratio was an eye-popping 19-to-2, and he held opposing batters to a .205 average.
In his March 3 outing against Indiana, Lambert gave up an unearned run on three hits while striking out 12 and walking none in five innings of work. Against St. Bonaventure on March 8, he went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits. Against the Bonnies, he fanned seven and issued one base on balls in earning his first win of the season.
For the season, Lambert is 1-0 with a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings.
Boston College (6-6) next travels to Newport News, Va., for a weekend series with Georgetown. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, March 15 starting at noon, then play a single game Sunday, March 16 beginning at noon.
