Providence, R.I. - Boston College senior first baseman Lisa Fischer (Coopersburg, Pa.) was named the first BIG EAST Player of the Week Monday after her solid effort in the Eagles' season-opening 3-5 campaign. She is the first Eagle of the 2003 season to be honored by the conference office.

Fischer helped the Eagles to a 3-5 record in the first two weekends of the season. The two tournaments featured six ranked foes and an upset 3-2 victory over No. 20 South Carolina. Fischer collected three home runs and a double to total six RBI over the two weekends. She is batting .319 to date.

Boston College will next travel west to participate in the Easton Classic at UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif. February 28-March 2.
