Senior Cara Blumfield Awarded BIG EAST/Aeropostale Scholarship

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Cara Blumfield was named a 2002-03 BIG EAST/Aeropostale Female Scholar-Athlete winner, according to an announcement made by the league offices. Blumfield was one of 13 women athletes from BIG EAST institutions that was selected for the award.
Blumfield is coming off of a 2002 season in which she batted .445 (57-for-128), while starting all 52 games at shortstop. At the conclusion of the 2002 season, Blumfield was named a second team All-BIG EAST honoree and a first team NFCA All-Northeast Regional All-American. The shortstop was also voted to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-America second team.
In winning the BIG EAST/Aeropostale award, Blumfield will be awarded a scholarship to be used towards graduate studies.
