CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College junior Chris Lambert (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial) was named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American Third Team in an announcement made Dec. 19.
Earlier in the month, Lambert earned BIG EAST Preseason Pitcher-of-the-Year accolades. This is the second consecutive year that he has received preseason All-America honors. In 2003, he was named to the Preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-America Second Team and earned All-America honors from the same group at season's end.
In addition to the 2004 mention as preseason Pitcher of the Year and unanimous All-BIG EAST team selection, he captured the preseason Pitcher-of-the-Year distinction a season ago. Last year also saw Lambert as a unanimous selection to the preseason conference team and first team choice at the conclusion of the season. In his stellar freshman campaign (2002), Lambert earned both BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, marking the first time that the same player tagged both awards in one season in the history of league.
Lambert posted an 8-2 record and a 2.71 earned run average in 79.1 innings of work last spring. The right-hander tied for the league lead in strikeouts (88), while ranking fifth in ERA, tied for fourth in wins, second in opponents? batting average (.216), fifth in innings pitched and second in complete games (seven). His last seven appearances were complete outings, and he won his final four BIG EAST starts, including a one-hitter against Pittsburgh on May 4. Lambert earned BIG EAST Pitcher-of-the-Week honors three times in 2003.
The 2003 Eagle squad finished with the program's second-highest win total (33-21), while completing a 13-11 record in the BIG EAST.
