CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (AP) - Sean Marshall scored 14 points and Craig Smith had 13 to lead Boston College to a 67-44 win over Boston University on Saturday.
Boston College (4-0), which captured the Paradise Jam title last week, has beaten its longtime hockey rival on the basketball court for three consecutive years, and now holds a 37-17 advantage in the series that dates to 1904.
Rashad Bell led the Terriers (0-3) with 14 points.
Uka Agbai, who missed most of last season with a neck injury, added 10 points for Boston College.
BC took control with a 9-0 run midway into the first half, opening its lead to 22-13 when Steve Hailey hit a 3-pointer. The Eagles then closed the half by scoring the last six points to take a 32-22 halftime lead.
The Eagles started the second half with a 9-2 run, capped by Jared Dudley's 3-pointer with 15:40 to play.
BC opened a 17-point lead six times in the second half and never let BU within single digits. BC pulled ahead by 20 with two minutes left, and Jermaine Watson's basket in the closing minute gave BC its largest lead of the game.
Game Notes: Boston College's four freshmen combined for 32 of the team's 67 points ... The Eagles recorded 22 assists on 28 field goals. Freshman Steve Hailey led the way with eight assists. He did not commit a turnover in 23 minutes ... Freshman Jared Dudley finished with an impressive line of nine points, eight rebounds and five assists. He has now led the team or tied for the team lead in rebounding in three of four games ... BC shot 59.6 percent from the field, just below its season best of 61.4 percent (against Appalachian State) ... For the second straight game, the Eagles committed just eight turnovers. Last season, BC committed a season-low seven turnovers against Stony Brook and committed eight turnovers in two other games ... BC was outrebounded for the first time this season. The visiting Terriers gained a 37-31 advantage in that category.
