Volleyball Drops Final Home Match To Georgetown

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Volleyball (16-8, 3-5 BIG EAST) ended their home schedule in dramatic fashion Sunday, losing to Georgetown (8-16, 3-6 BIG EAST) 3-1.
Alison Shepp and Allison Anderson had a spectacular afternoon for the Eagles. Both notched 15 kills on offense and two block assists a piece. Shepp led BC in attack, closing the afternoon with a .312 percentage.
Georgetown came on to the court and quickly grabbed control of the match. Within a few serves they took the lead, holding BC's attack to .023. Anderson managed five kills in game one. The Eagles put together a strong defense, holding the Hoyas to hit .089. BC fought, pushing the Hoyas passed the 30 point mark. In the end the offense couldn't keep the ball and Georgetown took game one 32-30.
GU came out for game two again for game two, quickly taking the lead and not giving BC the opportunity to score. Georgetown's Jennifer Fountain had four kills in what would be a 17 kill match for her. Game two went to GU 30-20.
A fresh BC squad came out for game three, quickly taking the lead and capitalizing on Hoya's errors. Six attack errors and two service errors by Georgetown helped BC gain momentum and take game three, 30-21.
In what would be the final game of the match, both teams had the lead in their hands at several points. Georgetown had the early lead, and BC caught up around eight points, but GU regrouped their offense and combined for 15 kills against the Eagles. They won the final game 30-20.
The Eagles will travel to Central Connecticut on Wednesday, November 5 for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
