Volleyball Defeats Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Volleyball (17-7, 3-5 BIG EAST) defeated Central Connecticut (18-7) Wednesday night, 3-1 for a big win after two straight losses last weekend.
The Eagles dropped the first game, 30-21. After a quick recovery, BC came back to the court full strength and dominated the next three matches. Freshman Alison Shepp had another big night for BC. The rookie notched 25 kills, two block solos and one block assist and an attack of .583. Dorota Niemczewska was right behind her with 14 kills, and also made 13 defensive digs. Combined they helped the Eagle squad capture the next three matches, 30-20, 30-25, 30-19.
Morgan Woodcock provided extreme depth with her attack. The redshirt freshman had 10 kills to hit .350. The team leader in blocks, she recorded one block solo and two block assists.
Volleyball will be on the road this weekend to take on BIG EAST member St. John's on Friday at 7 p.m. in Jamaica, N.Y.
