CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's swimming and diving team welcomed cross-town rival, Northeastern University, to the Flynn Recreation Complex for a Friday evening meet. The Eagles were victorious in their last home competition of the season, by a final score of 181-119.
The Eagles started strongly, winning the first four races. The 200 medley relay team of Nina Suryoutomo, Michelle Lane, Tory Thelin and Caitlin Klick began the meet with a victory. Caitlin Healy kept the Eagles rolling with a 10:36.68 in the 1000-freestyle. Nicole Duffy and Holly Boucher finished 1-2 in the 200-free. Northeastern took the next two events, but Eagles finished second and third in both.
Liz Byron and Boucher had another first and second finish to get BC back on the winning track. Byron captured her second victory of the evening, topping teammate Suryoutomo in the 100-freestyle. Katie McCann followed up by touching first in the 200-backstroke, Duffy topped the rest of the pool in the 500-free, and McCann earned her second win in the 200-IM. The Eagles closed the meet as they began it, with a relay victory, this time by the 400-freestyle team of Suryoutomo, Boucher, McCann and Byron.
The Eagles will be on the road for the conclusion of the 2002-03 season. BC travels to the University of New Hampshire for a 5 p.m. meet with the Wildcats on Sunday, Feb. 2.
