
No. 7 Men's Hockey Falls to Massachusetts, 3-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 7 men's hockey team (10-5-3, 6-3-1) led 1-0 after one period and extended its advantage to 2-0 early in the second period before Massachusetts (11-7-1, 5-5-0) rallied to defeat the Eagles, 3-2, Friday night at Kelley Rink.
BC sophomore Dave Spina opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 17:50 of the first period, only the Eagles second shorthanded tally of the season. Spina collected a pass from Ryan Murphy, broke into the UMass zone and fired a shot into the top left corner for the tally.
Senior Anthony D'Arpino doubled the BC advantage at 5:13 of the second period on his second goal of the season. D'Arpino parked in front of the UMass goal and received a pass from the corner from Justin Dziama to one-time the puck into the net. Sophomore Ned Havern also collected an assist on the goal
BC sophomore Matti Kaltiainen made 26 stops while Gabe Winer made 21 saves for the Minutemen.
The Eagles return to action Friday, Jan. 10, when they travel to Lowell to face UMass Lowell. Game time is 7 p.m.
