Women's Cross Country Wins Central Connecticut State Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Boston College women's cross country team started the season with a bang, winning today's Central Connecticut State Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. The women tallied 27 points for the victory. Senior Julie Spolidoro crossed the finish line ahead of all other competitors with a time of 17:20.
The Eagles put four runners in the top 10 today, with senior captain Laura Smith (17:54) finishing fourth, junior Jennifer Donovan (18:03) crossing the line fifth, and freshman Laurel Burdick (18:13) finishing sixth. Rounding out the top 5 finishers for the Eagles was freshman Lora Mead, finishing 11th overall with a time of 18:52.
Rhode Island finished second overall, earning 55 total points.
The Eagles return to action Fri., Sept. 13, when they face New Hampshire and Connecticut in Durham, N.H.
