Women's Cross Country Wins New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's cross country team finished first at the New England Championships held Friday at Boston's Franklin Park. The team finished with 70 overall points. With the top finish, the Eagles have not lost to any opponent this season, finishing in first place in their three races this season.
Sophomore Maria Cicero finished first in the 5-kilometer event with a time of 17:07. Senior Julie Spolidoro, who is having a sensational season for the Eagles thus far, finished second overall with a time of 17:11. Junior Jennifer Donovan also cracked the top 10, finishing fifth overall with a time of 17:35.
Rounding out the top five for the Eagles were freshman Laurel Burdick (21st place, 18:11) and senior Laura Smith (42nd, 18:37).
Boston College returns to action Saturday, Oct. 19, when they compete in the NCAA Pre-Meet at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.
