The Boston College football team finished preseason camp with a 102-play scrimmage Thursday afternoon in Alumni Stadium. The Eagles will practice once on Friday and again on Saturday before beginning regular game-week preparations on Sunday. BC kicks off the 2002 season at noon on Aug. 31 against Connecticut.
Junior running back Derrick Knight led all rushers on the afternoon, carrying the ball 10 times for 83 yards and two touchdowns, including a 56-yarder. Junior Horace Dodd carried the ball 23 times for 75 yards, and sophomore Brandon Brokaw had eight rushes for 31 yards.
Senior quarterback Brian St. Pierre completed 11 of 17 passes for 87 yards, while sophomore Quinton Porter was 7-for-16 for 62 yards. Sophomore Eric Boatwright was 1-for-6 for five yards.
"It was very competitive out there today," head coach Tom O'Brien said. "We operated at a much better pace today. Our three scrimmages were as physical as we've had in my tenure here.
"Now we're ready to go play."
