Women's Track Has Strong Showing At Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Boston College women's track and field team concluded its final preparations for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships on Saturday, as it competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational. The Eagles finished the afternoon at Brown with six individual winners.
Freshman Melissa Sherman (Dennis, Mass.) turned in the season's best time for Boston College in the 400-meter dash, as she finished in first place with a time of 57.80. Sophomores Jennifer Donovan (Melville, N.Y.) and Jennifer Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y.) place first and second, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run. Donovan turned in a time of 4:37.65, while Kramer finished in 4:41.13.
The Eagles 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams both placed first, as the squads finished with times of 49.55 and 4:12.07, respectively. Freshmen Ann Marie Walsh (Boulder, Colo.) and Amy Cebulski (Trumbull, Conn.) also placed first and second, respectively, in the long jump. Walsh finished with a mark of 16'06.00", while Cebulski finished a little more than a foot behind with a mark of 15'05.00".
Junior Nicolette Pogue (San Jose, Calif.), sophomore Megan Kearney (North Canton, Conn.) and freshman Jessica Kennerson (South Kingston, R.I.) were other three victors for the Eagles. Pogue took top honors in the triple jump (34'07.00"), Kearney in the discus competition (117'01.00") and Kennerson in the javelin (102'11.00).
The Eagles will now compete Friday through Sunday at the BIG EAST Championships in Storrs, Conn. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. For those people planning on attending, admission will be $4 for adults per day and $2 per child under the age of 18 and senior citizens. BIG EAST students will a school ID will be admitted free.
