Mens Lacrosse Falls To Binghamton, 8-7

Vestal, N.Y.- The Boston College men's lacrosse team lost their fifth game of the season to Binghamton on Saturday afternoon at Binghamton University. The Eagles battled all day with the Bearcats in a very tight match that was decided in the last twenty seconds of the game. The Eagles had a very impressive offensive effort with six goal-scorers in the game. Rory Smith led the Eagles with two goals, both coming in the third quarter. Craig Healy, Alex Gschwend, Kevin Dunphy and Matthew Safaii each tallied a goal apiece on the day. Dunphy also had two assists on the day.
Binghamton started off the scoring less than two minutes into the game and held the 1-0 lead until Dunphy scored with 4:22 left on the clock. In the next three minutes, Binghamton scored two quick goals, which gave them a 3-1 advantage. This two-goal lead was the largest by either team and did not last more than forty seconds, as Gschwend beat the Bearcat goalie eleven seconds before the end of the first period. Two minutes into the second quarter, Safaii evened the match at three all. This remained the score at the break. The third quarter was full of scoring as both teams scored four goals respectively. Smith scored the first two goals of the period and was followed by Healy and Albano. The fourth quarter began at a deadlock of 7-7. Both teams fought back and forth all quarter. However, entering the last minute of play, the game was still tied. With eighteen seconds left, Binghamton player Tyler Moore beat Eagle Goalkeeper James Karambay with the decisive goal.
The Eagles next take the field against Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn. on Saturday, April 6. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
